About the Group
The East Sussex & Kent Equestrian Access Group was founded by riders, for riders. We work directly with landowners across both counties to secure and maintain access to some of the most beautiful woodland bridleways in the South East.
All proceeds from donations to the group go directly to ongoing negotiation with landowners to expand the network and troubleshooting any issues or difficulties faced by our members when riding the routes.
Whether you're hacking through the High Weald, cantering along ancient drove roads, or exploring the edge of Ashdown Forest, our network gives you safe, legal, and well-maintained access.

Getting Started
Here's a helpful guide to the different riding options available across East Sussex and Kent.
Riding on Forestry England land is now free however parking for horse lorries and trailers requires a permit. You can buy a permit here. Not all Forestry England sites have parking organised — more information is on their website.
Ashdown Forest has always been permit led with different payment options. Find out more and purchase your permit on their website.
TROT is still very much in operation providing various farmland and private landowners toll rides. Find out more on their website.
Public bridleways remain free to riders but dependent upon location you may find you need to access parking for some.
Your ESKAG Team continue to explore options and welcome any ideas or suggestions that can be put forward.

Legal
By purchasing any permits, making use of any facilities provided or when using bridleways publicised by the East Sussex & Kent Equestrian Access Group, you agree to the following terms:
All riders access the network entirely at their own risk. The East Sussex & Kent Equestrian Access Group, its volunteers, and the landowners whose land the bridleways cross accept no liability whatsoever for any injury, loss, or damage — whether to person, horse, or property — arising from use of the network.
All riders must hold valid third party liability insurance before accessing any trail. We strongly recommend membership of the British Horse Society (BHS) or British Riding Clubs (BRC), both of which include third party liability cover. Proof of insurance may be requested at any time.
Horse riding is a recognised high-risk activity. Riders acknowledge that ground conditions, fallen trees, wildlife, and other hazards may be present on the trails at any time. It is the rider's responsibility to assess conditions and ride within their ability.
Riders must behave respectfully on all land. Any damage noticed or caused to fences, gates, crops, or property must be reported immediately. Riders are required to remove all horse droppings and litter from the parking area and take them away when they leave. Misuse of the network, failure to comply with these requirements, or repeated disregard for landowner relations may result in access being withdrawn without refund.
